This Safety Policy is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service. By using Wheelz you agree to it.
How Wheelz is intended to be used
Wheelz is a personal drive recorder. The app passively logs trips so drivers can review where they went, how far they drove, and how their vehicle performed in environments where high-speed driving is legal. Wheelz is intended for:
- Closed-course track days at sanctioned facilities.
- Private property (off-public-road) driving where applicable law permits.
- Normal everyday driving where the driver wants a passive record of their trips at or below legal speed limits.
How Wheelz is NOT to be used
Do not use Wheelz to:
- Race, time, or compete with other drivers on public roads.
- Pursue personal speed records on any public road, highway, or parking lot open to the public.
- Interact with the app screen while the vehicle is in motion.
- Mount, hold, or operate a phone in a way that violates local distracted-driving laws.
Your responsibilities as a driver
By installing Wheelz you agree that:
- You are solely responsible for operating your vehicle safely and legally at all times.
- You will obey all posted speed limits, traffic signals, and local driving laws.
- You will not allow the existence of Wheelz features, statistics, leaderboards, or records to influence your driving on public roads.
- You will secure your phone in a hands-free mount and avoid interacting with any app — including Wheelz — while driving.
- You understand that Wheelz cannot prevent unsafe driving and is not a driver-assistance, collision-avoidance, or safety system.
Track and closed-course use
Wheelz can be a useful companion for track days and other closed-course driving. If you use Wheelz on a track:
- Confirm the facility permits phone-based data recording.
- Mount the phone securely. A phone loose in the cabin is a projectile.
- Treat Wheelz statistics as approximate. GPS-based speed and route data has error margins and should not be used for official timing, scoring, or competition.
Distracted driving
Interacting with any smartphone application while driving is dangerous and, in many jurisdictions, illegal. Wheelz is designed to run in the background so the driver does not need to interact with the app while moving. If you need to view, edit, or share a drive, do so only when the vehicle is parked and the engine is off.
Data accuracy and limitations
Wheelz uses GPS, cellular, and inertial signals from your device. These signals can be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable. Speed, distance, and route data shown by Wheelz are estimates only. They must not be used as evidence in legal disputes, traffic court, or any official proceeding.
Assumption of risk
Operating a motor vehicle is inherently risky. By using Wheelz you acknowledge and accept that:
- All driving decisions remain entirely your own.
- Vortac Labs and Wheelz are not responsible for accidents, injuries, property damage, traffic citations, civil penalties, or any other consequences resulting from how you choose to drive.

Reporting unsafe use
If you believe a Wheelz user is using the app in a manner that endangers others, contact safety@vortaclabs.com. We can review and, where appropriate, suspend accounts that violate our Terms.
